Biographical History

AU-YOUNG Young is the alumni of Class 1947.

歐陽讓為嶺南大學土木工程系畢業生(1947年超社校友)。投考嶺大時，於理工學院入學試中獲得名列榜首的成績，順利入讀土木工程系。憑著優異的成績，歐陽先生於畢業時獲選為中國裴陶裴勵學會會員，俗稱「金鑰匙獎」。畢業後曾任職中學教師。

歐陽先生於1950年來港，並先後效力水務局及地下鐵路公司。香港最早通車的行車隧道 — 獅子山隧道的設計及工程便是由他負責。1965年，歐陽先生調往供水部，管理九龍及新界的食水系統。1966至67年香港制水，情況險峻，當時他肩負起控制供水時間的重任。到了70年代初期，歐陽先生擔任海水化淡廠建廠總工程師，在當時仍以外國人為主導的香港工程界實屬難得。其後歐陽先生轉投地下鐵路公司，對觀塘綫、荃灣綫及港島綫通車及車站建設貢獻良多。1950年由廣州到香港水務局工作。1971年曾到英國留學，其後於倫敦水務局工作。1975年應聘回港任職地下鐵路公司參與鐵路基建工作。歐陽讓亦香港獅子山隧道的建造工程, 負責設計及監工的工作。

歐陽先生一直心繫嶺南。他與一眾超社舊同學均保持緊密聯繫，建立了深厚的情誼；近年他更擔任超社社長，積極聯繫舊同學相聚。歐陽先生熱愛寫作，於 2014年歐陽先生把多年來所寫的文章結集成書，名為《嶺南情》，把嶺南校園舊事、人物、個人經歷及情懷等都盡顯在文章裡。近年歐陽先生也經常寫作，最後一篇文章《活在新型肺炎瘟疫時》寫於2020年3月。歐陽先生亦毋忘母校的培育之恩，多年來積極參與嶺大舉辦之活動及慷慨捐助回饋母校，幫助學弟學妹，體現嶺南人團結互助的精神。

歐陽讓於2020年5月5日因病辭世，享年94歲。
