Memorandum from Eric M. North to United Board for Christian Colleges in China, 1948 March 24
Scope and Contents
This memorandum documented a statement of the situation about the relationship of the University Trustees to the United Board. A summary of data by Mr. Wannamaker, presented as another memorandum dated November 3, 1947 was attached for the preparation of the upcoming meetings to discuss the relationship.
Mr. Wannamaker's memo documented the following information:
Data in three major aspects:
1. Income from all American sources;
2. Constituency: Organization, number of donors, total amount received;
3. Nature of agreement with Chinese Directors; amount involved;
4. Assurance of Christian character of institution.
The third aspects related to the agreement entered among Trustees of Lingnan with the United Board of Christian College in China in 1927, reinstated the importance of maintaining the Christian character of the University, despite other changes.
