李瑞明回函謝扶雅，討論嶺南大學並非教會學校的理據，信中亦提到周鍾岐正努力在北京向教育部門提請嶺南復校，惟對周提議向政府索取租金賠償作為當年嶺南被拼入中山大學的補償，再另址復校的觀點不表認同，李強調嶺南始為廣州康樂校園的地主。
