Scope and Contents
This series contains a collection of records in a variety of types of contents accumulated by Dr. Lee Sui-ming, spanning the years 1930-1960, which were purposely grouped with designated topics relevant to the history of Lingnan University in Guangzhou and the subsequent re-establishment in Hong Kong in 1967.
Files include correspondence, documents, photographs, publications and ephemeral documents, audio-visual materials etc., with both original and reproduction copies.

Biographical / Historical
謝扶雅(1892-1991)，是中國當代著名的思想家、哲學家、文學家，與嶺南大學極有淵源。謝氏曾先後到日本及美國留學，至1927年應當時嶺南大學副校長李應林之邀請，執教哲學系至1936年該系停辦而止。1939年中日戰爭持續，廣州淪陷，嶺南大學須暫遷香港並借用香港大學校舍上課，其時謝氏再應李應林校長的邀請，出任訓導長兼中國文學系主任至1941年初呈辭。於1949年因兼教當時已併入嶺南大學的神學院「中國思想史」一課而短暫重回廣州康樂校園。
